Sölden – The Hot Spot in the Alps

Winter in the Ötztal is going to start early. Plenty of skiing fun included. Adventures in the snow and entertainment at their finest. Extensive investments as another step towards premium quality and top comfort for all passionate winter sports fans.

The first highlight of this winter takes place in the Ötztal. On 25 and 26 October 2008, Sölden's Rettenbach Glacier hosts the ultimate FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Opening. As every year, the women's giant slalom inaugurates the 2008/2009 World Cup Season on Saturday. Followed by the men's giant slalom on Sunday."The world's elite of Alpine skiers attracts thousand of spectators and winter sports fans from all over the world. The Ötztal came up with a great variety of unbeatable offers for this World Cup weekend, including 2 nights' lodging, ski pass and admission to the Oktober Fest (available from Euro 173). But also non-skiers will have great fun – They are strongly recommended to head for the Aqua Dome Spa Center in Längenfeld", explains Oliver Schwarz, managing director of the

Ötztal Tourist Board.

Snow is guaranteed on the Glacier Slopes

Sölden has one of Austria's biggest glacier ski areas, covering a total surface of some 20 square kilometers. All those who can't wait are warmly invited to discover this Alpine Hot Spot earlier in October. State-of-the-art snow-making systems guarantee perfect snow conditions within the

entire glacier ski area in the upper Ötztal Valley.

New Highlights coupled with Top Quality

Again this year, a huge amount was invested in premium quality and comfort for all winter sports enthusiasts. In November 2008, the new 8-person chair lift with wind protection shields will be in operation at Giggijoch. In the meantime also the reconstruction of the Giggijoch Restaurant will be completed: at the new "Tiroler Wirtshaus" inn hungry skiers are spoilt with traditional Austrian specialties. The new Restaurant features two free-flow areas and a giant open-air Event Arena comprising an Ice Bar and a Music Stage. The different levels are easily accessible as they are connected with escalators. Therefore climbing the stairs with ski boots is a thing of the past.
